Each week, one of our desert gardening experts shares practical tips and insights to help your landscape thrive in the unique conditions of the Mojave Desert. Through Desert Bloom, we explore inspiring landscapes across Las Vegas and connect with horticulture professionals who are shaping sustainable gardening practices in Southern Nevada.

Featured experts include Angela O’Callaghan, Associate Professor with the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and a specialist in social horticulture, and Norm Schilling, owner of Schilling Horticulture Group in Las Vegas. Norm’s extensive experience includes serving as horticulture supervisor at UNLV and lead groundskeeper for the Gardens at the Las Vegas Springs Preserve (formerly the Desert Demonstration Garden). He is also an ISA Certified Arborist who teaches a variety of classes on horticulture, landscape care, and tree health.
