A Champion of
Desert Gardening in Southern Nevada

For over 30 years, Norm Schilling has been at the forefront of desert horticulture in the Las Vegas Valley as a seasoned professional, environmental steward, and passionate educator. With decades of hands-on experience in sustainable landscaping and a deep understanding of desert ecosystems, Norm has become a trusted voice and guiding force for both residents and professionals navigating the challenges of gardening in arid climates.

Recognizing a critical gap in the availability of unique, drought-tolerant, and desert-adapted plants, Norm founded Mojave Bloom Nursery in 2023. Located in the heart of downtown Las Vegas’ Cultural Corridor, Mojave Bloom stands as a natural extension of Norm’s lifelong mission of providing affordable, high-quality plant material and empowering locals through education and resources.

Before launching Mojave Bloom, Norm established Schilling Horticulture Group, a landscaping business that has won over 20 awards. Norm is also a longtime co-host of KNPR’s "Desert Bloom," a beloved radio program that has educated and inspired listeners for years. Each episode offers expert insight into desert gardening delivered with clarity, passion, and depth.

Putting Our Vision To Practice
