About the event

Las Vegas experiences some of the most intense summer UV levels in the United States, with the UV Index regularly reaching 10–12. That level of UV radiation can stress, damage, and even kill many landscape and garden plants. Fortunately, thoughtful shade placement can dramatically reduce exposure, dense trees and shrubs can block up to 90% of harmful UV radiation and help protect vulnerable plants.

Join Master Gardener Gail Brandys and retired environmental engineer, Dr. Robert Brandys, for this free educational class exploring how increasing sunlight and UV exposure are affecting gardens in Southern Nevada, and what you can do to protect your plants.

You’ll learn:

When UV shade matters most

Discover where and when the most severe sun damage occurs, and learn how to position shade structures, trees, and shrubs for maximum plant protection.
